Hi, I’m Judy, the owner of True Motion Equine Bodywork. My journey with horses began over 10 years ago with my first horse and soon grew into something much deeper than a hobby — it became a true passion for horse wellness. Since then, I’ve welcomed additional horses into my life, including a rescue pony who reminded me just how much patience, trust, and compassion horses can teach us.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of learning from an incredible mentor and now serve as an assistant riding instructor. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for both the demands placed on performance horses and the importance of thoughtful, consistent care, including animal bodywork, to support their comfort and well-being.
My path into equine bodywork was shaped by my own horse, Copper. When he began struggling with specific back issues, I started searching for treatments that would give him relief from his discomfort. I explored options like PEMF and BEMER treatments, but they proved to be too much for his back. What truly made a difference was something much simpler—using my hands. Through that experience, I saw firsthand how powerful and effective hands-on bodywork could be, and it changed the way I connect with and support horses.
That journey inspired me to continue my education through a variety of programs and bodywork methods, helping me better customize each session to meet the individual needs of every horse.
I completed certification training through the Animal Massage Awareness Method, which further strengthened my understanding of equine anatomy, movement, and thoughtful hands-on bodywork techniques. This program is recognized by the IAAMB and NCBTMB.
To better support sport horses, I studied the teachings of Maija Liisa Luttinger through Freely Forward Bodywork, focusing on improving comfort, movement, and overall performance.
I also wanted to deepen my understanding of equine acupressure and completed the 16-hour intensive course Equine Acupressure Techniques for Owners & Trainers with Susan Tenney, CMT, EEBW. This training further expanded my ability to support relaxation, balance, and overall wellness in horses.
My approach is gentle, intuitive, and always guided by the individual horse. Every session is tailored to what that horse needs in the moment—whether they are competing, recovering, or simply needing support. My goal is to help each horse move more freely, feel more comfortable, and truly thrive in their work and daily life.
I am also the equine bodyworker for Horse Sense stable in Fishkill, New York, where I work with a variety of horses.
Thank you for trusting me with your beloved horse.
Check out this great video with Marley, showing thanks after receiving bodywork.
